Adaptability

Last weekend I attended a jazz camp.  If you know much about jazz, you know the musicians adapt at every turn when performing together.  They may be well-rehearsed, yet in the moment of inspiration in a solo, the soloist may try a new twist to what was originally planned.  The other musicians adapt.

And so it is with us.  Regardless of the job we hold, or the relationship we are attempting to strengthen, we adapt.  If the other person, company or musician goes off-script we catch on quickly and adapt. 

Adaption is the secret sauce. 

We either adapt or we perish.

The next time you are in a performance or a think-tank, remember this. Adaptation is survival.
