Small Actions - Repeated

Small Actions - Repeated

How did Tiger Woods, golfing great, become great?  How did Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, or any other ‘great’ person become great?

They focused on small actions that produced large results.  Now, for the record, I used sports legends in the above example, however, in any field, the dominant players used this same principle.  I could have easily used Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and others.

They focused on a few small action steps.  They moved slowly until they mastered that one measure of accomplishment, and then moved on to the next.

They repeated good behavior.

What good behaviors are you repeating?

Know Thyself - Again

Know Thyself - Again

One of the keys to personal growth, whether in skill development, career development, relationship development, or any other kind of development, is to know thyself.

When you are in pain, what is your body saying?
When you dream of your life, what is your dominant dream?
What is your chief aim and goal in life?
Where would you love to live?

There are other questions we could list, but these get us started.  When we become honest with self, and answer these questions in a great depth of honesty, that is the beginning of knowing self.

I think I just wrote one of the key ingredients – HONESTY.

Hmm.

Add Yourself

Add Yourself

When I conducted choirs, I would often stop in the middle of a song and ask the choir to put themselves into the piece as if it were the last thing they would ever sing.  The difference was amazing.  A little effort goes a long way.

They put themselves into the piece of music.

And don’t we need to do that in every venture we undertake?  Are you building something – a building, a business, a career, a marriage?  Have you fully put yourself into it recently?

Honestly, I go to some restaurants and order a particular dish, side dish, topping or some such and after tasting it, wonder if the chef or manager had actually tasted this stuff.  It seems to me that they forgot to add their own sense of taste and acceptableness to the dish.

Whatever you are attempting to do, remember to add a full dose of yourself.
